Casual parties include nights out for a birthday party or event, friend’s birthday celebration or even a family event. If you are ridinghorses at a grand opening of a dude ranch, then a strapless ball gown is not the most functional idea. It would be better to wear jeans and a nice top. But jeans and a nice top would not really fit in with a mayoral ball on election night.
Party clothes should make you feel confident and good, no matter what you pick out. Wear something that is comfortable and flatters your body style, no matter what it might be. Choose fabrics that also match the setting. Wear thicker fabrics if you are outside or if the party is during the fall or winter months. Lightweight fabrics are best for summer parties or events that are outside in the sunshine.
